Huskies are smaller (35-60 lb), bred to RACE β€” light loads at speed. Malamutes are larger (75-100 lb), bred to HAUL β€” heavy freight slowly. Mals are fluffier, more dominant, more dog-aggressive. Huskies are more vocal and slightly more sociable.

Both are small black-and-white-ish brachycephalic breeds. Frenchies have BAT ears (upright, rounded), are smaller-bodied (16-28 lb), heavier-headed, and have severe BOAS issues. Bostons have ROSE ears (taller, pointier), longer legs, leaner build (12-25 lb), and slightly less BOAS.

Mals are LEANER, smaller-headed, more athletic. GSDs are blockier with sloping back (show line) or straight back (working). Mals are more drive-y and harder to handle. The military uses Mals (Cairo who killed bin Laden was a Mal).

Both are big white-ish fluffy Arctic dogs. Samoyeds are PURE white with a permanent 'smiling' face (curled mouth corners). Mals come in white/black/gray combos and have a more serious expression. Samoyeds are MUCH friendlier with strangers.

English Bulldogs are 40-55 lb with a heavy wrinkled face and rose ears. Pugs are 14-18 lb with a tightly curled tail and big bulgy eyes. Both are brachycephalic but Bulldogs have it MUCH worse (95%+ have measurable BOAS).

Both are smart herding dogs with similar body sizes. Border Collies are sleeker, longer-snouted, more 'stalky' herding style. Aussies are blockier with iconic merle coats and bobbed/docked tails. Aussies are slightly more 'family-pet' friendly; BCs are extreme working dogs.

Shelties are basically miniature Rough Collies. Both are herding dogs from Scotland with long flowing coats. Roughs are 50-75 lb (Lassie size). Shelties are 15-25 lb. Same temperament, same shedding, just different sizes.

Both are guard breeds with cropped ears (sometimes). Dobermans are TALL, LEAN, and athletic (60-100 lb). Rotts are STOCKY, BLOCKY, and powerful (80-135 lb). Dobies are velcro and high-energy; Rotts are calmer and more stoic.

Both are Japanese spitz dogs that look similar (curled tail, fox face, prick ears). Akitas are MUCH bigger (70-130 lb). Shibas are small (17-23 lb). Akitas are more dog-aggressive; Shibas are more cat-aloof.
